More computer woes

Hi, everyone. Just a quick post made from work to let you know that I'm currently unable to access the internet at all from home. This just happened last night. I suspect a particularly nanny-like security program called Zone Alarm is to blame. It seems to have arbitrarily decided that our internet browsers (both IE and Firefox) are some kind of threat and won't allow us to connect to them.

Of course, this had to happen when my husband is away and I don't dare just ininstall the program because I suspect it's one of these ones that leaves things behind in the file registry that have to be removed by hand (and very carefully indeed. Can't even access the Zonelabs user forum to see if anyone there has had a similar problem.

My husband is back tonight and I'm keeping my fingers crossed he'll be able to sort it out quickly but it depends how late he gets back and what sort of mood he's in unfortunately.

Obviously, this means no update today but I'm hoping normal service will be resumed as soon as possible.

Oh dear, I've just paid a visit to the Zonelabs forum. Looks like this bloody piece of software has mucked a few folk around too.

Makes me even more glad I'm on a Mac.

Seems some folk can't uninstall it or all they get is a blue page. Nobody so far has reported a problem just like yours yet.

Tell your hubby that there are a bunch of women staring desperately at him with tear-filled puppy dog eyes and quivering bottom lips who are depending on him to get them their next dose of CoA before they go into withdrawal.

Sorry about the computer problems. It's so frustrating having to deal with them sometimes.

I suspect this is some diabolical failsafe that Wesley had up his sleeve. When you reconnect you will find him out of the tank again!

I'm so sorry you're having problems, Deb. I had Zone Lab at one point and it caused problems so we uninstalled it. Unfortunately, neither of us can remember exactly what the problems were. Hopefully your husband will be able to sort it out.

There's not much point to this post except to wish you all the luck. Today's update is much missed and I'm sure you miss browsing your flist. Fingers crossed you'll be back on line very soon.

Hey Deb, sorry to hear about your 'pooter problems. I can totally sympathize.

Hi. I wasn't quite sure how else to contact you so sorry that this is irrelivant to your post. I've been overseas and then in hospital so haven't been on the net for ages. I popped into this site to see if anything had been updated re. the follow up story of Coming of Age but I can't see any of the Coming of Age story postings, only your general postings. I was friended by you and have read the whole story but am wondering if somehow I am locked out. I have been so looking forward to the sequel and desperately need something to read. HELP!

I'm sorry to hear you've been in hospital. I hope you're okay now? As regards the CoA sequel, you haven't missed anything. I'm afraid I'll still writing it and this LJ hasn't been updated for a while consequently. It will appear here eventually, if I manage to finish it.

As for suggesting something for you to read, if you haven't read any other of my stories, you can find a link to my website on my user info page. Also, if you liked CoA, you might like shylahmask's story The Grey Area. It's a WIP but I think she will definitely finish it.

Also, from what I understand, LJ has been randomly defriending people on various LJs so maybe you've been a victim of that? I'll refriend you and if you refriend this Lj you'll be able to see the fic postings again.
