Please don't be terrified. I fully understand why it was written and what a big thing it is for you to let us see it at all. I'm under no illusions here that it may not be for me. But I admire your writing so much I want to at least try to read it. Frankly I'll be astonished if I don't find something to like, and if the cost of that is that it occasionally goes past my squick point, so be it. :o)
